There’s still snow on the ground in much of the U.S., but that doesn’t mean we can’t start getting pumped up about the sights and sounds of festival season. Is there any better way to truly chill out for a few days and enjoy some live music? We think not.
Whether you live on the west coast, the midwest, or the deep south, you’ll be able to find a music festival to fit your summertime vibes. We’ve checked out a few of the top U.S. music festivals around, so you can go ahead and plan your best summer yet. Just be sure to pack sunscreen, a chic water bottle, and cool-girl sunglasses—the essentials so you’ll be ready to rock all weekend long.
April 10-12 & 17-19, 2020 - Indio, California
Lineup highlights: Rage Against The Machine, Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, Calvin Harris, Lana Del Ray, 21 Savage, Megan Thee Stallion, FKA Twigs
The ultimate destination for fun in the sun, there’s a reason that Coachella is synonymous with California cool. It’s endlessly Instagrammable, and often features A-list performances that get the entertainment industry talking. (And as if Coachella wasn’t FOMO-worthy enough, headliner Frank Ocean has only played live a handful of times since 2015, meaning that festival goers will be in even more exclusive company.)
Coachella is just so effortlessly cool, y’all. Your festival look should be, too. Make sure the Lucie bohemian dress makes its way into your festival bag to nail that flawless, not-trying-too-hard vibe.
June 11-14, 2020 - Manchester, Tennessee
Lineup highlights: Tool, Lizzo, Tame Impala, Vampire Weekend, Lana Del Ray, Miley Cyrus, Flume, Tenacious D, Flogging Molly, Bassnectar
Located south of Nashville, Bonnaroo takes place in the heart of the music industry. It’s a nonstop party featuring performances by top-tier musicians all in one chilled out environment. Music, dancing, food, yoga, art, outdoor fun...no matter what you’re into, there’s something for you at Bonnaroo.
For a festival look that’s as chic and it is chill, try the River striped boho style dress. Throw on a pair of cutoffs underneath, or go bare-legged for dose of daring. It’s Bonnaroo—do whatever feels amazing!
July 30-August 2, 2020 - Grant Park, Chicago, Illinois
Lineup highlights: The lineup for Lollapalooza hasn’t been released yet. If last year’s star-studded lineup (Ariana Grande, Childish Gambina, 21 Pilots, etc.) was any indicator, you won’t want to miss out.
Ah, Lollapalooza. The gold standard that set high stakes for what a modern music festival should be. Lollapalooza has been going strong since 1992 (with a few years off here and there), and it continues to be a powerhouse event in a crowded field.
Lollapalooza takes place in Chicago, which means it’s a great opportunity to show off some city sophistication. The Ivy strappy bohemian dress is as chic as it is comfortable; pair with these chunky rings for a bold way to show off your style.
April 24-26, 2020 - Indio, California
Lineup highlights: Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood, Dan + Shay, Eric Church, Tanya Tucker, Brett Young, Billy Ray Cyrus (with Lil Nas X), Alan Jackson, ZZ Top
If you’re a country girl at heart, Stagecoach might be more your style. Modern country merges with the classics for an unforgettable show that will have you reaching for your dancing shoes. And Stagecoach takes place at the same venue where Coachella is held, so you already know they can put on a helluva party.
Stagecoach is the perfect opportunity to add a dash of sweetness to your look as you dance the weekend away. The Jaylene bohemian dress is a darling addition to your festival wardrobe that compliments cowboy boots like nobody’s business. And you can’t go wrong stashing your supplies in the genuine leather Nancy fringe backpack.
October 2-4 & 9-11, 2020 - Austin, Texas
Lineup highlights: The ACL lineup hasn’t been released yet, but it’s sure to be a barn burner. Last year brought the likes of Guns N’ Roses, Childish Gambino, Billie Eilish, and The Cure, so we’re excited to see what 2020 will bring to Austin.
The Austin City Limits Music Festival is well known for the eclectic collection of performers that appear on stage each year. If your Spotify playlists routinely jump from Halsey to Wu Tang Clan to the Grateful Dead without skipping a beat, ACL is the festival of your dreams.
Texas in October is the perfect time to rock a laid-back look with a cute crop top like the Sadie sunflower hippie top. Pair it with the Annie high-waisted demin shorts, and you’ll be good to go all weekend long.
Love this! LOLLA is right by me but I’ve never actually gone! Great info for people looking to go.
Whoa, this is an awesome list! I haven’t been to a music festival in awhile but would so so love to. Thanks for all the details you included!
Awesome list! LOLLAPALOOZA is right by me :) But I somehow feel too old for it LOL
Great post! My favorite two in Texas are the Austin City Limits and Celebrate Freedom! Can’t go every year but they’re so much fun!
I love festivals! You forgot one on the list- I’ll be going to the Dreamville Festival on April 4th in North Carolina!!
I love music festivals! I am going to add a few of these to my list for sure. I have always wanted to go to Bonnaroo. Thanks so much for the great info!
These look like a lot of great fun. I won’t be heading to the US in 2020. But perhaps 2021! Will look out for festivals then!
I will be adding some of this to my list. Always wanted to go to Coachella
I’ve been to a few concerts. The last one like this was Nas’ free concert in Central Park. For that one, I brought a chair, food and of course liquor. I had no intention of paying six dollars for a hot dog. Had a blast. Would like to hit Coachella but I’m not a fan of bugs or drunk folks acting stupid. Any concert I hit now has to be indoors!
I love this and am saving it! This is gonna come in handy for some
I have been wanting to go to Stagecoach year after year. We haven’t been yet, but it’s definitely on my list of must-visit festivals in the near future.
I haven’t been to a big music festival like any of these. These sound like an awesome experience! It would be good to be prepared with your list.
I will be adding some of these to my list! Now I need to go shopping!
Good info. I didn’t think I want to go to a big summer festival, but this list made me want to go.
I would love to show my style at LOLLAPALOOZA! i would love to go to this festival & listen to some Arctic Monkeys :)
Thanks for sharing this! I haven’t been to a concert in so long, but this makes me want to go to one this summer!
Music is the soul of life! Can’t imagine any festival without Music
The best music fest I ever went to was jazz fest in New Orleans! I haven’t been to any on your list but I’m sure they’re an awesome experience to have! There’s just something about live music that’s so special.
I love the way you answered the eternal question of “What am I using?” Because honestly it is very stressful when you go to concerts or music festivals!
Loved that music festival in Chicago, attended few years back, and it was lot of fun except have to rush off later on because of rain.
I love how you answered the eternal question of “What do I wear?” because that is honestly so stressful when going to concerts or music festivals!
Man where was this when I was in college!!! I’ve been to little music festivals which actually at the time I didn’t realize that’s what it was haha but this guide is so great, I’m going to send this to my sister who I live through lol
